Wages

Another key issue that needs to be researched is wages. Will we be able to find competitive wages to entice of to Idaho? Are our salary requirements in line with what we should expect to find in Idaho? More research will need to be done on cost of living and salaries. Any good links to resources would be appreciated.

Checklists

We will need to start a checklist of items to research for this type of move. A couple of things that come to mind after employment are housing and high-speed internet access. High-speed internet access is a must have when working from home as a freelance web developer/designer/integrator.

As for housing, a nice three bedroom with a 2 car garage. I can't remember if the housing in Idaho had basements, but a basement would be good too.

More specific details to follow - need to get back to working on the two resumes. Jeff reminded me to make sure his has the various types of forklifts he can operate.

How This Started

The idea of moving to Idaho has been evolving over time. After a frustrating day in Birmingham, Alabama the usual comment would be "let's move to Montana." Okay, that's not Idaho. So how did it become Idaho? One day Jeff was looking at an Idaho map and found Leslie, Idaho. I've been doing a minimal amount of Googling for Idaho information. The first link that really stuck with me was Relocate to Kooskia, Idaho - "Tired of the rat-race? Looking for a more relaxed life-style?" Gee, where these folks reading my mind? I showed the site to my husband - not sure what caught his eye but he asked me "When do we move?"

I think it was that comment that made me really start considering the idea. Now to start looking at all the pros & cons, getting our resumes linked up and maybe seeing if someone out there might be interested in coming to Idaho to live and work there.
